The name Reiki derives from the Japanese pronunciation of two Japanese characters that describe the energy itself: "rei" (meaning 'unseen' or 'spiritual') and "ki" (Chinese "qi", here meaning 'energy' or 'life force').

Stress Reducing 101
Stress can be cause by a myriad of reasons; they can be events, situations and things that cause stress. For many of us it is money worries, work and family life issues that cause us the greatest amount of stress. Health is another topic that can cause stress, especially for people that have chronic or painful conditions, medications to buy and testing that needs to be done, as well as the concern about the outcome of the prognosis.
While it is impossible and unhealthy to live a stress free life, there is good stress that we actually need to function properly, there is also bad stress that we need to minimize and deal with effectively to live a healthier life. These aren’t things that we can just internalize and think they will go away. Stress can have a profound impact on our health and the quality of our lives.
While it is virtually impossible and unhealthy to live a stress free life, see there is good stress that we actually need to function properly, there is also bad stress that we need to minimize and deal with effectively to live a healthy life. Stress is not something that should be pushed aside to be dealt with later. These aren?t things that we can just internalize and think they will go away. Stress can have a profound impact on our health.
The longer the stress goes on though you may begin to experience more health problems such as depression, diabetes, heart disease, hair loss, hyperthyroidism, OCD or anxiety disorders, tooth and gum disease, sexual dysfunction, obesity, ulcers, fatigue and lethargy, difficulty sleeping and possibly death at the most extreme end. Suggestions of things that can be done to combat stress:
There are a number of things you can do that can help you deal with stress. Exercise is a wonderful tool for a number of people. Sometimes a good run or a round of aerobics or something else that will get your heart rate up can really help get the tension out of the body.
Quiet time and deep breathing can also help soothe jangled nerves. Perhaps taking a powerful nap would be very restorative. Turn off the cell phone, music, TV, computer and other noise making items. Sometimes we just need quiet.
You can also create a gratitude book. Naturally do this when you aren?t stressed and use it when you are. In the gratitude book you are going to write the things in your life that you are thankful for. This can be as simple as the fact you are able to get up and live another day, that you are able to take a breath on your own and so on. Sometimes we just need quiet. Quiet time and deep breathing can also help soothe jangled nerves. Perhaps taking a powerful nap would be very restorative. Turn off the cell phone, music, TV, computer and other noise making items, unwind and unplug!
Listen to soothing music and take a hot bath with a beautifully scented candle. The soothing music will help you calm your mind and the hot bath will help release the tension from your body. The fragrance helps to relax as well.
Get a massage if you can. If you can’t, do a hot foot soak bath for your feet, and run some beautiful scented oils on your feet afterward. Then put your feet up and relax
Read a great book and curl up with a cup of tea.
Have some friends over for dinner, or go out for a meal. Surround yourself with positive people who care about you, but don?t let the friendship be one sided. Share and enter into their lives as well, be a giver, not just a taker.
Write in a journal, sometimes getting your thoughts and anxieties on paper help diminish the power of those anxieties and worries.
Call a supportive friend or family member, reach out to someone you love. Many times we isolate and don’t give others the chance to see us vulnerable, when they really do care and would like to show that care at our low points.
Find a hobby you enjoy if you don’t already have one.
Get outside, the sunshine and fresh air do so much for boosting vitamin D and for plain old getting us in a better mood.
Try to stop obsessing the problem over and over and over in your head. Try to turn off that old tape. If at all possible take a vacation, or even just a mini get away if you can, to get a fresh perspective. It could lead to the change that is just what you needed to get over the crisis point.

Using a Feng Shui Fish Tank
You have probably seen plenty of pieces of Asian and Chinese artwork featuring goldfish or koi carp. There are also Asian water gardens which you can incorporate into your home, including these beautiful fish. Fish are very important when it comes to Asian and Chinese culture.
Therefore, when you consider feng shui, which is both an art and a science, you might be curious as to how you can use a feng shui fish tank in your home. How do you introduce it, and where should you keep it? Are there places you should not include a feng shui fish tank?
Sometimes, in Feng Shui, Small Is Beautiful
A lot of people think wrongly that when you are talking about a feng shui fish tank, you are talking about a huge aquarium which will take up half your living room. This is untrue. The basic feng shui principles encourage simplicity and balance and trying to fit a massive tank into a tiny apartment is only going to make the room feel cluttered which, again, is very anti-feng shui. You should choose a tank which is going to look good in your house and not be too big.
Smaller fish tanks will do the same job, especially if they suit the room they are in and add the element of balance. You can choose from an aquarium and a small fish tank, depending on the space you have available and your preference. You might just want a little fishbowl with a couple of goldfish. If properly maintained and well displayed, this will be just fine.
This might be good news to you if you are on a budget and don’t want to spend a lot of money on a large aquarium, in addition to spending a lot of money to both stock it and maintain it.
Where to Introduce Your Feng Shui Fish Tank
The five elements of wood, fire, water, earth and metal are the basic components of feng shui. These are elements that are meant to complement each other, and neither should overpower a room or a particular area to the detriment of any other. This is where a feng shui fish tank can be especially useful. With a smaller tank or fishbowl, you’ll be accenting the room.
If the room is colored in earth tones, such as tans or browns, you’ll need a water element to bring in balance. If your living room is this type of color scheme, the water element needs to be incorporated here. This is especially helpful if the fish inside are colored brightly, such as fish with yellows, oranges, or other bright hues that will offset the warm earth tones.
However, you also need to make sure that your feng shui fish tank does not distract from another strong element. For example, if a large fireplace dominates your living room, you cannot also have a large aquarium there. This will create two large, strong elements, and they will conflict with each other. Therefore, you will not be harmonized and will be off balance.
So, be careful of where you place your fishbowl and make sure that its a complement to your room and your environment; this will ensure that you are using your feng shui fish tank properly.

Walking as Meditation
Everyone knows the value of walking. It helps your heart, your circulation and your tummy (a great calorie burner)
But what you may not have thought about is this: combining your walking time with meditation to enhance the value of your walking. Most people take up walking because it’s an excellent form of exercise, it minimizes injuries and there is no learning curve; everyone knows how to walk.
There’s no special equipment required. You just start walking and you are immediately on the path to excellent health. If you combine this with meditation, or mindful walking, you will find the benefits immeasurable.
So what is walking meditation, or mindful walking? It is when you deliberately focus on your every step. You don’t have to increase your speed, in fact, you might begin by walking slower so you can get the hang of mindful walking.
As you concentrate on your walking, make mental notes of the flow of your footsteps. Mindful walking is a practice that originated in Buddhism, in particular the art of Ayatana. In Christianity, walking the labyrinth is considered a form of walking meditation.
Using walking as meditation helps you stay focused on the here and now. As you become more skilled at this practice, you will find yourself better able to let go of your worries and stress.
Common forms of meditation have you sitting with eyes closed, concentrating within. With walking meditation, your eyes are wide open, absorbing the outside world. This gives you the opportunity to break away from the mind and all its clutter; a priceless tool, especially for us westerners
Basic guidelines for walking meditation:
* Walk in an area that you are familiar and comfortable with.
* Shoot for a 20 minute time period. If that is too long for you, start with a 5 minute period and gradually increase your time to 20 minutes.
* Start walking with a relaxed posture.
* Concentrate on how your feet feel.
* Relax your arms.
* As you walk, keep your focus about 3 to 6 feet in front of you.
In conclusion, mindful walking is a practice that is easy to implement into your daily exercise regiment. Not only will you be helping your body out, but you will be taking your exercise program up a notch by improving your mind and spirit.
Happy walking!

Mindset and Knowledge Accomplish More than Just Motivation
More than likely you know someone who is very successful and seems to succeed no matter what they are doing. They may start a business and then make it grow into a huge wealth maker. Of course these people may encounter a problem where they fail, but you’ll soon see them up and starting a new venture. You take a look and they are then getting another enterprise going and their finances are doing great again.
Of course you could think that they are lucky or that they are just really motivated when it comes to business. However, most of the time using motivation for the sake of motivation does not really work for many people. Why? Well, pure motivation that pumps you up is not what you need. Successful people that succeed even after failing actually can do this because of their mindset that will not allow them to accept failure. So, it is not all about motivation, but it has a lot to do with knowledge and confidence as well.
Of course when you hear the presentation of a motivation speaker, you can’t just expect confidence to automatically appear. Knowing how to get to person and business success can help you out. You see, it is more than hype, because you need to know the best approaches to achieving success. When you learn the fundamentals to success, you can gain confidence and get the mindset of being successful. Once you have the right knowledge and the right tools, you really can never fail in any of your activities.

Self Improvement: Changing Your Point Of View
If you’ve placed second in a writing contest, will you jump for joy and push for better results the next time or will you be discouraged and find an excuse not to join again? On the other hand, the rates of depression and pessimism have never been higher. It affects middle-aged adults the same way it hits younger people. The mean age of onset has gone from 30 to 15. It is no longer a middle-aged housewife’s disorder but also a teen-ager’s disorder’ as well.
Try placing Frog A in a pot of boiling water. What happens? He twerps! He jumps off! Why? because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment – the water’s temperature. Then try Frog B: place him in the lake warm water then turn the gas stove on. Wait till the water reaches a certain boiling point. Frog B then thinks “Ooh it’s a bit warm in here”.
The truth is optimists are confronted with the same hard knocks of this world. What differs is the way they explain their misfortune—it’s the opposite way. They tend to believe defeat is just a temporary setback, that its causes are confined to this one case.
Positive expectancies of optimists also predict better reactions during transitions to new environments, sudden tragedies and unlikely turn of events. If they fall, they will stand up. They see opportunities instead of obstacles.
Optimism seems a socially desirable trait in all communities. Those who share optimism are generally accepted while those who spread gloom, panic and hysteria are treated unfavorably.
Optimists are healthier and live longer. Medical research has justified that simple pleasures and a positive outlook can cause a measurable increase in the body’s ability to fight disease.
When you learn to accept yourself and your own faults, you pass step 1 in the project “how to become genuinely happy”. For as long as you know how to accept others, you will also be accepted. For as long as you love and know how to love, you will receive love ten folds back.
Creative
So how do you unleash your creative thinking? Well, the first thing is to become a human leech. No, we’re not talking about just sucking the blood out of every living being available, we’re saying that you should take in as much knowledge and learning you can find. Read everything available — good and bad, and keep your mind open to the infinite possibilities of the universe. The more you know, the more you’ll want to know, and the more your faculty of wonder will be exercised. Prepare to be amazed at little facts that add a bit of color into your life.
Try something new everyday and let your experiences broaden your perspective. Explore a new district in your neighborhood. Spend an afternoon in a museum to which you’ve never been before. Chat up someone on the bus. Open up to the people around you. As you thrust yourself out of your comfort zone more and more each day, your sense of adventure grows and so does your zest for life. Think about it. When was the last time you did something for the first time? If it’s been a while, I tell you, you’ve been missing out on a whole lot of experiences that could’ve added to your growth, emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually. Why don’t you try bungee jumping today? Not only will you learn, but you will also have plenty of stories to share, enabling you to practice your storytelling skills and making you the life of the party.

Following Your Passions Down A Different Path
Debra Poneman always wanted to make a difference in the lives of people she met. She founded “Yes to Success” to help people create true success and prosperity, enjoy deep and lasting happiness, and realize their biggest dreams. She went from hosting seminars of 10 participants to hosting seminars with thousands of participants in a very short time.
After appearing regularly on various radio and television talks shows, Debra began negotiations for her very own talk show. It seemed, on the outside at least, that she was on top of the world. She was successful beyond her wildest dreams, but she wasn’t fulfilled. Something was missing.

You Can Generate Attraction Regardless Of Your Looks
One of the main issues I contend with, when dealing with my students is their idea of not being attractive enough to attract women.
There are various sizes and shapes of insecurity, such as:
Some guys think they’re too old.
Some men think they are too fat.
Some men think they are too short.
They could be too ugly.
Many men feel hopeless when it comes to attracting the woman they desire, because of such feelings.
But lucky for all of us – this simply isn’t the case.
