Is Homeopathy for you?

What is Homeopathy? It is a form of complementary therapy which works on the belief that taking certain fluids, which induce symptoms of the condition we are trying to treat, will cure us. The fluids work to get rid of the underlying condition. You need to shake the fluids very well before taking them as this then gets rid of any bad effects which may be contained in them. Certain homeopathy treatments contain several different ingredients but they are mainly a mix of sugar, water and alcohol as well as the other ingredients.

Homeopathy over the years has had a lot of negative publicity. However, homeopathy on the whole is a very well known alternative therapy. In the US and Europe on average about 15% of the population will practice homeopathy. Despite what many may thing, homeopathy does not harm people and this has been backed up by very many studies over the years. Remember the fluids are usually diluted quite a lot which could be one reason that they cause no harm.

Important things to consider for Homeopathy:

Any homeopathy treatment recommended will be as a result of a homeopathy expert doing detailed analysis of his or her patient. Both the emotional and physical wellbeing of the patient is looked at when coming up with a suitable treatment recommendation.

In spite of the many studies that have been focused on homeopathy, scientists and researchers have found no definitive results that support the efficacy of homeopathy. This does not, however, mean that homeopathy is a fake, because many people also swear by it and how it has treated or cured them.

Short history of Homeopathy:

It was in the 1800′s that a man called Samuel Hahnemann discovered what is known as homeopathy today. Hahnemann took some herbs for his malaria and began to suffer malaria symptoms. After this he researched all the different herbs to see what other treatment he could find among them for other diseases.

The concept of diluting the herbs and other forms of alternative medicines was to minimize the effects which can be compared to vaccination where the weakened form of the disease or sickness is injected into a person to promote immunity.

Homeopathy may be as widely practiced as other forms of alternative medicine but those who practice it are convinced of its capacity to treat ailments. There may be some grain of truth in it since it has been around for decades.
